It’s a simple journey to travel from Luton to Heathrow Airport, with three legs to the trip. The first step is to take the train from Luton to St. Pancras International train station. You'll then need to get across the capital to London Paddington, before taking the Heathrow Express to the airport.

Luton to London: Getting into the capital

The first stage of your journey is taking the train from Luton to St. Pancras International. Trains leave Luton between every five and 15 minutes, with direct services into St. Pancras on both ThamesLink and East Midlands Railway (EMR). EMR trains take about 27 minutes and ThamesLink services have a journey time of around 35 minutes.

How to get from St. Pancras to London Paddington

The quickest and easiest way to get from St. Pancras is to take the London Underground. Make your way to King’s Cross St. Pancras tube station and jump on the Circle Line or Hammersmith & City Line. It’s just five stops on the tube to Paddington and there’s no need to change tube lines.

Getting to the Heathrow Express in Paddington Station

Once you arrive at London Paddington, head up from the London Underground station to the main station concourse. Heathrow Express trains usually leave from platforms six and seven, so go through the ticket barriers with your Heathrow Express ticket.


Just remember to check the boards at the station in case our trains are running from a different platform. Most days we’ll be on platforms six and seven, but sometimes it does change.

All aboard the Heathrow Express

The Heathrow Express is the quickest and smoothest way to get from central London to London Heathrow. Our trains leave London Paddington station every 15 minutes with four trains every hour. Once on the train, you’ll glide into Heathrow Airport in just 15 minutes.


You’ll find our seats are super comfy with ample legroom, so you can settle in as we leave Paddington station. There’s free Wi-Fi on board for last-minute online check-in or just to stay connected while you travel. Business First Class passengers benefit from more legroom, a table at each seat and a plug socket that’s ideal for laptops. Children aged 15 and under travel for free on Heathrow Express, whether on Standard Class or Business First Class.

Arriving at Heathrow Airport

Take the Heathrow Express from Paddington and you’ll arrive at Heathrow Central station in just 15 minutes, with an extra six minutes to Terminal 5 station.

If you’re flying from Terminal 2, 3 or 4, leave the train at Heathrow Central. You can walk to either Terminal 2 or Terminal 3 using the inter-terminal walkway in around 10 minutes. Passengers flying from Terminal 4 need to take the shuttle bus from Heathrow Central to the terminal. It runs regularly and takes just a few minutes.

For flights from Terminal 5, stay on the Heathrow Express for an extra six minutes to Terminal 5 station.
